AIMS OF THE SITE

This site intends to become a place in which to gather information on this new path by offering:

• A source of information updated, as much as possible, with the latest variations and enriching additions to the path, which the printed Guide is by its very nature unable to provide.

• A meeting place where pilgrims who have already completed the path can exchange experiences, make suggestions, criticisms and enriching remarks to help those who are thinking of starting on the pilgrimage, or who have loaded their rucksack onto their shoulders and need a word of the comfort from those who have gone before. For this we have set up a page called “I pellegrini” (the pilgrims) which is there to receive your contributions: diaries, reflections, poems, prayers, photos and anything you think could be of use to others.

• A meeting place beyond the confines of faith, race, nationality, age and social background, where people on their pilgrimage feel part of one great family… indeed, in the evening, one does feels part of a family as one sits round a table in a hostel!

• A new means for spreading the “Spirit of walking” which has returned as a fresh impulse in recent years.

• An “infinitely small” contribution of lay people to the knowledge of the man called Francis and those who accompanied him.

• A place of peace, in which to broadcast the Culture of Peace, to which pilgrims bear “natural witness”, crossing borders, meeting others in a spirit of openness and warmth, respecting those they meet, following a silent furrow though places unknown, tracing luminous trails along the veins of our common mother Earth.
